Spain
Spain is the largest vegetable seed market in Europe. Therefore, Enza Zaden España S.L. has three, quite successful, establishments in this country: a commercial office and two breeding stations. From these locations we develop new, promising breeding programmes and we maintain close contacts with our local growers. The close interaction between the sales, breeding and research departments has been our key to success on this large market.
Market-oriented
Our R&D and marketing teams are, like the Iberian and Moroccan agriculture, market-oriented. We look into consumer demands and aim to satisfy our customers in their needs: attractive products with excellent sales potential in this specific market. Breeding companies are of essential importance in the vegetable market. Success depends on the development of high quality vegetable varieties. Productive varieties with taste, shelf life, attractive colours and resistance to a wide range of viruses and bacteria. Varieties like Dallas, Atol, Capino, Búfalo, Pitenza, Salomée, Marumba, Acapulco, Borja, Pinokkio, Xanadú, Vanity and Atleta.
Breeding and sales
Since 1987 already, we have been actively involved in breeding and selling vegetable seeds in Spain and Portugal. With our activities growing, so did he need of an own commercial office, which we established in 2001 under the name of Enza Zaden España S.L. From this office we do not solely focus on the Spanish, Portuguese and Moroccan markets, but also on the export markets to Northern Europe during winter.
Enza Zaden de Investigación S.L. is responsible for all breeding activities in Spain. We have two important research stations: ‘La Manciega’ in Almaría and ‘El Albujón’ in Murcia. In Almaría, the heart of the Spanish greenhouse farming, we focus on tomato, peppers and cucurbitacea. In Murcia, we breed open field crops, particularly lettuce, endive and melon.
